On Friday, March 8, Jayda Jackson, was named a Rose Festival Princess for this year’s court. Jayda is a senior at Central Catholic High School and expects to graduate this June. After graduation, Jayda will pursue a career as a pediatrician.

The Rose Festival Court, presented by Unitus Community Credit Union, includes 15 outstanding students from Portland, Metro East, and Metro West high schools. The Court provides higher education scholarships funded by The Randall Group, promotes volunteerism, facilitates networking, and encourages an appreciation for the history and traditions of the Portland Rose Festival. Throughout the season, the Court will travel across the state to learn, volunteer, and participate in community and Rose Festival events.

Jayda joins the court representing herself, her school, and her community. This opportunity is important to her because, “It allows people to be inspired by someone just like them, from their community. That's why being a part of the Rose Festival Court has been so pivotal to me, because I want to inspire and give back to the community I grew up in.”

Looking ahead to the Portland Rose Festival, Jayda’s favorite event of the season is the CareOregon Starlight Parade. “There are so many interesting things to see...” says Jayda, “it makes the city even more beautiful than it is.”
