Ruby Haughton-Pitts

Ruby Haughton-Pitts worked with Oregon legislators to file a bill - HB 2938 - to create a Task Force on Age Discrimination that would be charged with identifying and evaluating the impacts of age discrimination in the workplace and establishing policy recommendations to prevent it. Haughton-Pitts was the first African American director of the state AARP. She has been terminated without explanation from her job.

Ruby's Bill will have a hearing today in the House Committee on Business and Labor at 3:15 p.m. Testimony can be submitted today and until Tuesday at 3 p.m. in support of Ruby's bill by text or by uploading a document to this website: Oregon Legislative Information System (oregonlegislature.gov).

Oregonians can also email or call elected officials in the Oregon House of Representatives.
