The Skanner News

Portland Police have arrested and charged Alejandro Ray Vance Jr., 20, in connection with a shooting in April 2014. Gang enforcement officers say Vance is a documented gang member.

The shooting investigation was launched April 28, 2014, at 5:36 p.m., after North Precinct officers responded to reports of gunshots fired near North Killingsworth Street and Minnesota Avenue.

Officers discovered two vehicles that had been struck by bullets. As Vance ran from police he discarded a handgun, police said. He was later arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Vance has now been charged with Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City, and Pointing a Firearm at Another.  He was arraigned on Monday July 28 in Multnomah County Court.

Anyone with information about this shooting should contact Detective Mitch Hergert at (503) 823-2081 or mitchell.hergert@portlandoregon.gov.
