Portland Parks and public libraries are offering cooling places during this week's extreme heat wave, which can endanger the elderly, children and those with medical conditions.
Also Larry Collins at People of Purpose and Associates says a cooling center for street people and others turned away from public areas is open at Maple Mallory in the Z-Center, at 3800 NE Mallory. Larry encourages any local residents to steer at-risk street people toward this air-conditioned center which is offering ice water, snacks and games.
