Who do you think you are? Are you a post-racial advocate that feels race is no longer significant or important in American society? How did you answer the US 2010 Census Form Question No. 9: "What is Person 1's race?" The race question's choices are: "White; Black, African-American, or Negro; American Indian or Alaska Native."

My brothers and sisters, we are on the verge of the greatest depression in the history of the world and our politicians are spending money we don't have. The only way out of this mess is to seriously control our spending and lower the current budgets.

After pretending to be seriously considering up to 10 people for appointment to the Supreme Court, including two African-American women, President Obama did what most of us predicted all along: He selected Solicitor General Elena Kagan to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice John Paul Stevens.

In contrast to the dramatic outpouring of anger and sadness that followed from the Kent State killings—including but not limited to student strikes across the country—there was no such outpouring in connection with Jackson State; there were no massive student strikes.

Are Black role models different than White ones? General use of the term means a "person who serves as an example, whose behavior is emulated by others". The image of the "First Black" in a position in the mainstream is usually made as a reference to social roles to which all should aspire. Taking an evaluation of some "first Blacks" brings questions of their competence and whether they've shown qualities other Blacks should imitate.

On Mother's Day, we shower women with flowers, cards and other expressions of love and affection. The holiday is a fitting reminder of the lifeline women extend to us all. But for far too many women, their own lifeline ends tragically.
