Dear friends,

This past month has been a clear reminder of the urgent need to address systemic racism and the necessity to continue to work for racial equality. Eckhart Teachings and the Eckhart Tolle Foundation are committed to this work and we stand in solidarity with the Black community and all ethnicities affected by acts of racism and prejudice.

According to Eckhart, the essence of racism starts in the human mind and is one of the many dysfunctions of the ego that separates and segregates groups of people based on skin color, believing one is superior or inferior to another. The external manifestation of this mind dysfunction represented in the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, Eric Garner, Elijah McClain, and the many others is something that we cannot allow to happen.

The primary work of Eckhart Teachings and the Eckhart Tolle Foundation is to support the awakening of human consciousness. While true and lasting change must come from within, we also recognize that the awakening process is not happening quickly enough to stop the injustices happening right now in our world. That is why the Eckhart Tolle Foundation has decided to donate over a quarter-million dollars to the following organizations working towards criminal justice reform, racial justice, ending mass incarceration, and raising the consciousness of children and young adults:

  • NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund
  • Dream Corps #cut50
  • Law Enforcement Accountability Project (LEAP)
  • Anti-Recidivism Coalition
  • Holistic Life Foundation

Additionally, Eckhart will soon be releasing a new free video teaching addressing racism in ourselves and in society. We will be sharing a link for this video very soon.

Our dedication to supporting the Black community and organizations working towards the structural changes needed will continue. We are committed to creating a more conscious and aware society.

Together on this journey,
Erin Jacobson
Executive Director, Eckhart Teachings and President, the Eckhart Tolle Foundation
