Ida Lee Brown has died. She was born on Feb. 26, 1921 in Bastrop, Texas to Sam and Pearl Waites.
She graduated from high school and attended Prairie View College in Texas.
In 1940, she married Eldridge Brown in Austin, Texas. To this union, six children were born. In 1943 they moved to Portland, Ore. and she became a member of Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church. Later she became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist church.
Her family was the highlight of her life.
Mrs. Brown loved to go fishing and bowling. But she loved all types of sports, especially basketball. She had played in the girls league when she was in high school and college. Her favorite team was The Portland Trailblazers.
She is survived by her children: Eldridge Brown Jr. (Ann-Rita), Lola Freia (Joseph), Ina Garrison (Louis), Gerald Brown, Reta Brown and Gary Brown; 2 grandchildren: Kenneth High (Rhonda) and Kelly Bradshaw; and 3 great grandchildren: Ian, Jordan and Kayla Bradshaw; and host of other relatives and friends.
