James Ray Burns was born February 7, 1944 to Mary McCully & Ecker Burns in Portland, Ore.

Ray met Helen Jones in high school and they were married April 8, 1966. Brought to this union was Darrell Ray Burns, Damon and Jennie Burns and Galen Burns.

Ray was a supervisor for a major box making company. He loved the Lord, he loved to fish and he enjoyed card games and dog races. He loved life and he loved his family.

On Wednesday, April 11, 2018 our Lord and Savior saw that Ray was tired and sent an angel to bring him home.

Ray was preceded in death by parents Mary McCully and Ecker Burns, Step father Walter Lewis. Brother: Don A. Burns. Sister: Shawntella Lewis.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife Helen Burns. Three Children: Darrell Ray Burns of Los Angeles, Calif.; Damon Burns of Portland, Ore.; Galen Burns of Portland, Ore.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory children: Michael Ray & Janelle Gaston of Portland, Ore.; Dapre Sr. & Shannon Gaston of Portland, Ore. Two brothers: Danny Ray Lewis of Burien, Washington; Glenn Lionell Lewis of Portland, Ore. Two sisters: Patrica Diana & Roosevelt Lewis of Renton, Wash.; YuLinda Marie & Wayne Highsmith of Portland, Ore. Grand children: Darrell A. Burns, Ashley Unique Burns, Darrell E. Burns, Ki’marra Fields, Savannah Burns, Devyn Burns, Jordyn Burns, Nakiyah Burns, Niccole Burns, Galen Burns Jr, Galante Burns, Tamia Gaston, Dapre Gaston Jr., Dashawn Gaston, Davon Gaston, Damarion Gaston, Michale Jeray Gaston, Janeice Gaston, Marilyn Gaston. Great Grandchildren: Azani White, JaVion Gaston-Bedinger and a host of nieces, nephews,friends,relatives, in-laws and loved ones who will cherish his memory always.

We thank God for Ray. We have loved him and we will miss him everyday. He will be in our hearts forever.

Memorial held on May 26, 2018 at Genesis Community Fellowship, 5425 NE 27th Ave, Portland, Ore.
