The Allen Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will be honoring the Rev. LeRoy Haynes Jr. and First Lady Cynthia Haynes during the annual Pastor and First Lady Appreciation celebration at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 4 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 6 at Allen Temple CME Church, 4236 N.E. 8th Ave. The public is invited to attend.
With the theme, "A Race to Run, A Ministry to Fulfill and a Message to Share," guest speakers will include Elder William Turner of Trinity Full Gospel Church and Bishop H.B. Daniels from Daniels Memorial Church of God in Christ.
Dr. Haynes has served as senior pastor at Allen Temple since 1997 and is the presiding elder of the Alaska-Pacific Region in the Ninth Episcopal District. He is active in the Albina Ministerial Alliance and most recently has been at the forefront of the people calling for reform of the Portland Police Bureau.
