James said the decision to leave his longtime home at Cleveland, but ultimately decided that he could win more with the team in South Beach. He will be joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, two other players who negotiated their contracts several years ago to be free agents.
The news was not well received in Cleveland, where Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert promised fans that they would bring home an NBA championship before the "BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE."
"This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his 'decision' unlike anything ever 'witnessed' in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment," Gilbert wrote on the Cav's blog. "Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us … You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal."
