Two actors from Portland Center Stage's production of "Ragtime" will perform a song at the unveiling of the Golden West Building's history exhibit, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at Carleton Hart Architects, 322 NW 8th Ave.

The renovated exhibit documents the Golden West Hotel, once the cultural center of Portland's African American community in the first few decades of the early 20th century. It is considered by historians to be the earliest architectural landmarks of African American history in Portland

The project has been a multi-year effort from amateur historian Will Bennett, the Golden West Hotel Historic Display Advisory Committee, the Old Town History Project. The building is now owned by the Central City Concern.

The unveiling celebration is open to the public.
