The Evergreen High School marching band and colorguard in Vancouver has been invited to march in the parade at President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural ceremonies in Washington D.C. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — out of 1,400 applicants from across the country, only 24 bands were chosen. Now's the hard part: the kids have to come up with the money to pay their way. Support their exciting trip by sending contributions to the Evergreen High School Band and Colorguard Boosters, PO Box 87098, Vancouver, Wa. 98687-7098.
