Leslie Jones, diversity manager for Sound Transit, will speak at the Community Coalition for Contracts and Jobs meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21, at the Central Area Motivation Program, 722 18th Ave. in Central Seattle.
Sound Transit is in the process of bidding the initial phases of the University Link sector of the light rail project.
The agency has conducted opportunity forums in Pierce, King and Snohomish Counties last week to apprise small business owners of subcontracting possibilities on the 3-plus mile long tunnel project. Engineers estimate the project to cost about $1.75 billion.
CCCJ meets the first and third Tuesday of each month to advocate and encourage equitable participation by the African American community in contracts and jobs that are created by our tax and consumer dollars. For information call 206-353-5770.
