Allegiance Athletic Club of Northeast Portland swept their regional championships in Spokane, and now 47 youths are headed to the Junior Olympics National Championships in Omaha, Neb., July 22 through 28. However the group, which trains at the old Whitaker High School track, doesn't have enough funds to pay every athlete's way. Coach Stacey Wallace and the team's community have organized a car wash July 19 and 20 at 15th and Killingsworth streets, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Supporters are also encouraged to show up in person during team practice from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through July 18 at the track near NE 42nd and Killingsworth to show moral and financial support. Or make checks payable to Allegiance Athletic Club in care of J.J. Johnson, and send them to P.O. Box 11907, Portland, OR 97211.
