Update: The man whose body was recovered from the Willamette River has been identified as Lawrence Hauser,  Age 50, of West Linn, OR.
He was the swimmer in distress who went missing on the evening of Saturday September 14, in the Willamette river near the South Waterfront District.

Search and rescue crews from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and Portland Fire Bureau had searched the river in the area he went missing Saturday night and Sunday. There are no signs of foul play and the cause of death is still pending.


 Multnomah County Sheriff's Office River Patrol deputies have recovered  the body of an adult male from the  Willamette River.

A fisherman at  Zidel Marine reported sighting the body Thursday Sept. 19 at 7:30 a.m.  

The sheriff's office alerted the Medical Examiner and says they are attempting to identify the man and inform family members.

MCSO detectives are handling the investigation. The body will be turned over to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office.
