Last Chance to View and Vote on June's Vanport Oral History Video Contest Submissions

Two new productions were submitted in June to NPMTC's Oral History Video Contest Initiated in January 2012 to collect stories of "Life in Vanport," the project's original contest theme. In 2013, the project expanded to include oral histories from individuals living in a time of history who have a story to tell (who doesn't?). June's submissions include recollections from a Viet Nam vet about his wartime experiences and RTD2, a story of homelessness in Portland. Submissions can be viewed and voted on in two places. NPMTC's Facebook page hosts the Vanport Oral History Contest  and videos can also be viewed and voted on at NPMTC's website www.npmtc.org.
Oral history captured on video and disseminated to communities having ties to stories enrich and expand perspectives on historic events. This is more than what you get from history books and everyone can be involved. Take out your phone or camera or enroll in a class to learn professional videography and contribute the historical POV (Point of View) to your community. Contest renews each month through September 2013. Monthly prizes and cash awards will be given to 1st, 2^nd and 3^rd prize winners at end of contest.
