It's August, so everyone gets to go a party through the National Night Out celebration. National Night Out aims to bring neighbors together by hosting street parties and gathering in parks. In Portland, more than 158 National Night Out parties have registered with the City Of Portland's Office of Neighborhoods.

The official 2012 date is Tuesday, Aug. 7, but 58 parties are being held on other dates between Aug. 2 and Aug. 12.

Find the party nearest you on the Skanner's National Night Out 2012 map. Parties on Aug. 7 are represented by the SUN icon; parties scheduled before that date are represented by the blue hamburger and drink icon; parties scheduled after Aug. 7 are represented by the yellow apple and canteen icon.

Former police Lt. Harry Jackson will be the host at one of two parties at Peninsula Park, Aug. 7 at 6 pm. (The parties will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Special guest will be Darryl Turner, president of Portland Police Association.

Organizers of the McCoy Park party at N. Trenton and N. Newman listed the size of their expected guest list as 2,500. Next largest could be the Powellhurst Neighborhood party, to be held this Saturday, Aug. 4, at Earl Boyles Park on S.E. 112 and Boise St., or the Lloyd neighborhood party at Holladay Park, N.E. 13th and Holladay St., both with 1000 people expected. So which parties will be best attended? Check out a few and let us know how they went.
