Sign up now for a free financial fitness workshop at the June Key Delta Community Center, North Albina, Saturday, April 28, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The event is not a sales opportunity, and no products will be marketed or sold – but organizers say it will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about taking care of your money.

Sponsored by the Economic Development Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the workshop covers retirement plans, family finances, savings plans, and the basics of financial literacy.

Two financial experts will lead the session, Jane Bergin-Miller, at left, and Andrew Pollock.

Bergin-Miller is a member of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Pacific Northwest Region Diversity Council. She works at the financial services company as a financial advisor.

A successful restaurant and catering business owner in Northeast Portland for 14 years, Bergin-Miller changed careers after an early retirement and has worked in the financial sector since 2000.

She finds it especially rewarding to work with families, enjoying relationships with all of the generations.  She is a past president of the YWCA of Greater Portland and was recently honored as a 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager.

Pollock specializes in family finances and retirement planning at Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., where he has worked for 14 years.

" My clients appreciate a thorough, honest approach to managing their hard-earned money," he says. "Working together, we can develop a realistic, effective financial plan to help you feel secure, informed and in control, on the road to financial freedom."

His areas of focus include: family finances, retirement planning, investments, tax planning, saving for education, domestic partner planning, charitable giving, and more.

Pollock is an active member of the Central East Portland Rotary Club

Finance Committee, and Trinity Lutheran School.
