The 10th Annual Central Area Community Festival and Parade will be July 22 and 23 at the Garfield Community Center and Playfield, 2323 E. Cherry St.
This free event for all ages features art and cultural exhibits, games, kids' inflatables, merchandise, music, entertainment, food, arts and crafts, children's activities and more. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. 
The Central Area Community Festival is meant to strengthen community pride, integrity and spirituality by promoting cultural diversity through the Central Area community.
Entertainment acts begin at noon and run the entire day. Saturday's acts include: Sam Chabliss, RCurtis, Triple Treat, GoodyBagg, Phaze Two, and Michael Powers rounds out the evening. Sunday's acts include gospel and jazz with Shades of Praise, GoodyBagg featuring Joy Jones, Angelo Pizarro and the Sammie Drane Band. Also making appearances will be Seafair princesses, Seahawks Blue Thunder, Seahawks Blitz, and Garfield Martial Arts.
In combination with the two-day festival, the Second Annual Central Area Community Family Parade will run from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 22. The parade route starts at 23rd Avenue S. and East Union Street and travels south on 23rd Avenue to East Cherry Street, turning east onto East Cherry, passing the Garfield Community Center and festival grounds that will also stage the parade's review stand. The parade will continue on East Cherry and south onto Temple Street at Martin Luther King Way, where it will conclude.
