The city of Portland has introduced an innovative way to bring local music to city business – hold music.
That's right, the boredom of being put on hold when you're on the phone to a city agency will now be filled with the sounds of Portland's vibrant local music scene. The "Listen Local" program will allow artists to submit their music through Rumblefish, a Portland-based sonic-branding company, and be selected among the Community Listening Panel, the Arts & Culture staff of the mayor's office. Every three months, a new play list of 15 songs is selected from a wide variety of artists. So this is your call artists, help diversify the city's hold music and step up.
Artists wishing to submit their tracks can do it through Rumblefish
For more information about the program visit http://www.portlandonline.com/mayor/index.cfm?&c=52907

If you want to join the Community Listening Panel, contact Cary Clarke and submit your name, email, zip code and the reason you want to serve on the panel. Cary can be reached at cary.clarke@portlandoregon.gov or (503) 823-2108.
