A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after being accused of firing a handgun inside Lloyd Center Mall Wednesday night. According to police, the juvenile opened fire on a 19-year-old man in a confrontation they describe as "gang related."

Police were originally called to the scene by Lloyd Center Security to help control a fight between multiple individuals. Three male suspects were detained during the initial investigation. Two handguns were recovered from the scene.
One 16-year-old boy has also been charged with a count of Riot after police reviewed surveillance tape to determine the identity of the shooter.
Officers from the Gang Enforcement Team were able to respond quickly because they were already working in Holladay Park across the street from the mall. Northeast Precinct Officers have been working daily in the park during spring break in an attempt to reduce any possible violence during spring break
