KairosPDX Learning Academy Public Charter School student Leaders walked to the campus, located at 4915 N Gantenbein Ave., in the heart of the historic Albina District. Thereafter, they conducted a school-wide assembly featuring student presentations, songs and dances to commemorate the bravery of Ruby Bridges, the first African American child to integrate a white southern elementary school in 1960. They honored her courage and determination, and recommitted themselves to creating a more just and equitable society.
Joining in the assembly were representatives of various HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) who participated in the celebration.
