The Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives (PCRI) will celebrate Black History Month 2023 with free events for the public. "Keeping Black families together is one of PCRI's core values and beliefs," said Kymberly Horner, PCRI executive director.

"Our Resident Services team is hosting a movie night at two of our multi-family complexes, both located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd," continued Horner. Victoria West, PCRI's assistant property manager and Resident Services coordinator, selected the movie from Marvel Studios, "The Black Panther," starring the late Chadwick Boseman. "The movie will be shown in the community room at our Beatrice Morrow building, and I chose the film based on the positive contributions Boseman made in the film industry during his short yet well-lived life," commented West. "We're also showing 'Coming 2 America' starring Eddie Murphy, another African American movie icon at King + Parks," stated West.

PCRI will also team up with Portland photographer Antonio Harris, for Family Picture Day. "We are calling on all seniors with ties to North/Northeast Portland to stop by for an exclusive photo opp at our Park Terrace location. Family members are invited for a free photo taken by Harris. Seniors and their families will leave with a free color photo of Portland’s legendary photographer," said Horner, "and it's on a first-come basis. This summer there will be a photo exhibit at one of PCRI's community centers for the public to view the families."
