The Allen Temple C.M.E Church family invites the public to their annual “Unsung Heroes & Heroines Award luncheon on Saturday, April 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Allen Temple C.M.E Church, 4236 NE 8th Ave. Portland.

The Rev. Dr. LeRoy Haynes Jr. is the senior pastor of Allen Temple C.M.E Church and presiding elder of the Oregon/Washington and Alaska Pacific conferences. Allen Temple is a church that reaches beyond its walls to meet the needs and serve the community.

This fundraiser event will help with the continued cost of rebuilding the church after the fire in 2015. Luncheon tickets are $25 each. Please contact the Rev. Rhonda Smith at rhondiva3@gmail.com or Regina Green at rgreen6025@gmail.com for ticket information.

The purpose of the award is to acknowledge and honor individuals and/or organizations who are unsung heroes/heroines who make a difference in the community and in the city of Portland by assisting undeserved individuals and groups, and improving their quality of life. Categories being recognized are: education, drug addiction programs, homeless advocacy, athletics, religion, youth programs, journalism/media, arts, health/foster care, gang prevention/intervention and social justice.
