On Friday, Dec. 23 residential collection of garbage, recycling, and compost in Portland may be delayed due to hazardous road conditions caused by ice and snow.

On Monday, Dec. 26 waste collection is scheduled to occur as usual; there are no delays due to the Christmas holiday. However, Friday's weather delays could impact service on Monday, and possibly later in the week, as garbage companies catch up.

Portland residents should set out their garbage, recycling, and compost bins on their normal collection day. If bins are not emptied, leave them at the curb. Garbage companies will come as soon as they can.

Even if your street is clear, hazardous road conditions in other parts of the city may make it unsafe for waste collection drivers to get to your area.

In a news release, Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability said, "your garbage and recycling company appreciates your patience as they work to keep collection drivers and the community safe."
