Ms. Joan Brown-Kline, age 73, of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, Ga. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 W. McIntosh Rd, Griffin is in charge of arrangements.

About Joan Brown-Kline:

Brown-Kline & Company was an Oregon-based management consulting firm specializing in organizational development, community engagement, and diversity and equity services. Brown-Kline consulted with private sector, government, non-profit organizations, health care and educational institutions. The company opened in 1995.As Executive Director for CASA for Children Brown-Kline was responsible for serving over 900 children, with a budget of $1.3 million. CASA recruited, trained and assigned over 350 volunteers to represent to the court abused and neglected children.

Brown-Kline was also executive director of Girls Scouts of Oregon and Washington. The organization had an annual budget of $5 million and served over 15,000 girls and had 5,000 volunteers. She was also city/community liaison for the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning.

In the 1990s she managed the public involvement process of the Albina Community Plan, a comprehensive community planning effort that involved revitalization of Portland’s North/Northeast District.

She also served as deputy administrator for the State of Oregon’s Employment Department , where she provided oversight and direction for business recruiting services, job finding assistance, unemployment insurance, as well as other duties. The department had a staff of 1,600 employees and 47 offices throughout the state.

Brown-Kline held an MA in education from the University of Michigan.
