The Genealogical Forum of Oregon’s African American Special Interest Group meets the third Saturday of the month. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the meetings are now virtual. 

Breaking Through the 1865 Barrier and finding Documents From Slavery is the topic of the meeting on Saturday, May 16, noon to 2 p.m. Janice Sellers, chair, is a professional genealogist specializing in forensic, Jewish, Black, and newspaper research. She has a BA in French with minors in Spanish and Russian, and has been the editor of five genealogical periodicals. She has presented talks on genealogy and family history at local, regional, state and national events.

The meeting is open to the public, but registration is required by emailing Sellers at: african_american@gfo.org.
