 Seattle Pacific University invites the public to a series of free music events during the months of February and March.

Jazz Ensemble Concert

SPU’s winter Jazz Ensemble includes a wide array of music from jazz history, from swing to cool jazz to fusion. SPU Instructor Dan Kramlich and the Jazz Ensemble perform on Tuesday, February 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Nickerson Studios.

Wind Ensemble Concert

SPU’s Wind Ensemble performs the only band work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Del Tredici, “In Wartime.” The ensemble performs Friday, February 21, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church.

Gospel Choir and Worship Band Vespers

Liturgist and Artistic Director Phillip Ferrell leads the Gospel Choir and Worship Arts Ensemble in a night of worship including prayers, black spirituals, and ecumenical readings in honor of Black History Month. The event takes place on Tuesday, February 25, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church.

Orchestra Concert

The SPU Symphony Orchestra explores the dance music of 19th and 20th century black composers in honor of Black History Month. The concert takes place on Thursday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church.

Percussion Ensemble Concert

SPU’s Percussion Ensemble, led by Director of Percussion Studies Dan Adams, performs in concert on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church.

Chamber Concert and Women’s Choirs Concert

SPU’s vocal ensembles perform from a broad repertory on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in First Free Methodist Church.
