Tuesday, October 15 is the voter registration deadline for the November 5 Special Election

The Special Election in Multnomah County will be held on Nov. 5, 2019. Depending on where you live, there may be local measures that include requests for local tax money or proposed changes to laws. The districts on the ballot are the City of Portland, City of Troutdale, Metro, Portland Public School District and Sauvie Island Fire District.

Oregon voters can register to vote online at www.oregonvotes.gov/register. To register to vote online an eligible voter must have a valid Oregon driver’s license, permit, or ID card. The online registration deadline is 11:59 PM on Oct. 15. 

Voters can also register to vote on paper with an Oregon Voter Registration Card. Registration cards can be found at the elections office, Oregon DMV, post office or public library. The deadline for mailing the Oregon Voter Registration Card is a USPS postmark of Oct. 15. Voters can also register to vote in person at the Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building at 1040 SE Morrison Street, Portland

Ballots for the Nov. 5 Special Election will be mailed to voters beginning on Oct. 16. Only eligible voters that live within the boundaries of the local districts on the ballot will receive a ballot. 

Voters who will be away from home on Election Day should contact the elections office to request an absentee ballot as soon as possible. Voters can check their registration status online at www.oregonvotes.gov/myvote. Registered voters who have moved must update their voter registration information online or fill out a new Oregon Voter Registration Card. 

Multnomah County Elections will open an additional location in Gresham for this election. The Voting Center Express will be open Oct 21 - Nov 5 inside the Multnomah County East Building at 600 NE 8th Street, Gresham. Voters will be able to replace a lost ballot, get help voting, ask questions, or vote in person.
