The August Wilson Red Door Project presents Cop Out: Beyond Black White & Blue, a series of monologues based on interviews with law enforcement.

In an effort to advance the dialogue between law enforcement and the community in a constructive way, the Red Door commissioned playwrights from across the country to interview and write monologues about a broad spectrum of police officers, including many officers of color and cops from diverse backgrounds.

Directed by Kevin Jones with co-direction by Damaris Webb and Phil Johnson, Cop Out is an interactive theater experience inviting feedback from audience members which will be used to further development of the play. Additionally, the Red Door developed a curriculum around the show designed to help create dialogue for people who want to change the way civilians and police interact by de-escalating assumptions, relieving apathy and hopelessness, and improving communication.

Writers include Shepsu Aakhu, J. Nicole Brooks, Javon Johnson, Nambi E. Kelley, Bonnie Ratner, Harrison Rivers, J. David Shanks, Andrea Stolowitz, and Ben Watkins.
