Due to the adverse air quality in the Portland metro area, Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) activities scheduled outdoors are being moved indoors where feasible.

Outdoor (and indoor) pools remain open at this time, and all PP&R recreation programs are currently being held as planned. For all organized camps, classes and other activities, PP&R staff are taking care to ensure that exertion is minimized, particularly for children and the elderly, and anyone with identified respiratory issues.

If air quality moves into the “very unhealthy” range, as determined by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Oregon Health Authority, PP&R may potentially cancel or postpone some activities. Changes will be posted on the Inclement Weather page and other portlandparks.org sites, as well as Facebook, Twitter and other local outlets.

For information from the Environmental Protection Agency on air quality, visit the EPA’s Airnow.gov page for Portland.
