Policing in America is at a crossroads. Across the nation, communities are questioning the relationship between police and those they serve, particularly it's relationship to African Americans and people experiencing mental illness.  Race, class, gender, and socioeconomic status all intersect here in Portland. The Albina Ministerial Alliance Coalition, the City of Portland, the County, the US Department of Justice, and the police union are engaged in a collaborative effort to make the Portland Police Bureau a leader in 21st century policing.

Please join us for a conversation to discuss the history of reform efforts, the current status, and where we hope to go.

Guest Speakers:

  • Michael Marshman, Chief of Police, Portland Police Bureau
  • Kathleen Saadat, Human and Civil Rights Advocate
  • Dr. Rev Leroy Haynes, Jr., Albina Ministerial Alliance

Moderator:

  • Jo Ann Hardesty, President of the NAACP Portland Chapter
