A panel is set to discuss the prioritization of youth justice in ongoing equity movements, with a focus on the policing of young people.

The event serves as the fourth installment of a five part monthly series of community conversations on policing and will be held at the Red & Black Café (400 Southeast 12th Avenue) on Jan. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m and is free and open to the public.

The series is organized by the Portland chapter of Critical Resistance which “consists of primarily folks of color who are from Portland or have lived here for years and come from various organizing backgrounds.

“Our goal in hosting these community conversations is to learn more about our communities' experiences with policing, and to discuss our needs and the ways we can build alternatives to policing and the prison industrial complex in Portland,” organizers from Critical Resistance say in a statement.
