The annual state chess tournament is Friday March 14 through Saturday March 15 at the Oregon Convention Center.  The tournament begin at 9 a.m. and last until roughly 5 p.m.  It is located at the South Entrance in exhibit hall “E.”

Nearly 600 children travel from all over the state of Oregon to compete for the title, the trophy, and the test of abilities at the 47th Annual State Chess Tournament.  Like most sports, chess is a competition; there are those who win and those who do not.  However, The State Chess Tournament provides an opportunity for regional qualifiers to compete in something truly unique; a test of athletics for the mind.
The State Chess Tournament is an opportunity for children to exercise their brains and compete for both individual and team titles.
