The Oregon Historical Society: 12649 Bogel

Richard and America Bogle are among the first Black pioneers in Oregon, arriving in the Oregon Territory in 1843 and 1851, respectively, before settling in Walla Walla in the Washington Territory. The couple presided over a large and influential family of business owners and elected officials, including The Skanner News jazz columnist Dick Bogle who recently died.
