In the article featured May 16, "Dawson Park Improvement Brings Resources to the Neighborhood Hit Hardest by Gentrification" the Portland African American Leadership Forum (PAALF) was quoted as having an expressed point of view on the public outreach campaign for Dawson Park.

Steven Gilliam, Jr. is a member of PAALF's African American Leadership Academy and through the Academy he is developing opportunities to address the outcomes of urban renewal.  PAALF supports Mr. Gilliam in this endeavor. However, PAALF does not have an official position on urban renewal. We apologize for any confusion this has caused. We also apologize if the article implied that Mr. Gilliam or PAALF criticized Portland Parks and Recreation volunteers Mr. Joe Nunn and Mr. Donny Adair for their participation in the Dawson Park Improvement Campaign. We hold Mr. Nunn and Mr. Adair in the highest regard and so does Mr. Gilliam.

PAALF is a forum of African American Leaders united around a common action agenda. PAALF seeks to unify our community in order to address long standing issues that confront us and urban renewal is one issue we hope to unite our community around.  PAALF encourages the community's involvement in all that we do and for more information please visit:http://www.aalfnw.org
