Frank Taylor, director of operations at Portland Prime, wants the restaurant to give to the Portland community

Frank Taylor, director of operations at Portland Prime, gave out 50 Thanksgiving turkeys this week –20 to St. Andrew Catholic Church and 30 to Highland Christian Center.

"I've always wanted Portland Prime to be a giving place," Taylor said. "We want our relationship to be all about giving back to the community. That's what Portland Prime is all about."

The downtown restaurant, which received the prestigious Wine Spectator's Award for Excellence in 2011 and 2012, also gave 500 pairs of sneakers to students at the beginning of the school year.

Taylor had more good news to brighten the season. He and Portland Prime's owner, Paul Keeler,  plan to open a new restaurant on the South Waterfront in early 2013. When it opens, Quartet, will offer jobs to 50 people as wait staff, bartenders, cooks and event staff.

"We want that restaurant to be about giving back as well," Taylor says.
