Although we're already one month into 2011, just in case you missed it, the Multnomah County Library's "Everybody Reads" book of the year is "The Other Wes Moore" by Wes Moore, a Rhodes Scholar, combat veteran, and White House fellow.

His book explores another man with the same name, a similar background and a completely different life story. The other Wes Moore is currently serving a life sentence for murder.

Moore will be in town for a speaking event at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. That's a little more than month away – plenty of time to read the book. And because the book is the "Everybody Reads" selection, the library has plenty of copies on hand to ensure there are enough to go around. Extra copies available at libraries don't accrue late charges, enabling you to lend the book to friends who wish to participate.

You're also encouraged to join one of the monthly "Pageturners" groups at your local library. Visit www.multcolib.org for details. Pictured is Wes Moore with Tonya Davis, Clara Scott, Carolyn Barge and Tracy Jones, all members of a book club that met woon after Moore visited Seattle on Jan. 27.
