Police report that groups of young people started about 10 fights at N.E. Alberta Street's "Last Thursday" event, Aug. 3O.

Police recorded a fight at around 8:15 p.m. followed by about nine others. Large groups of young people congregating on the street were involved.

As young people fled police, a 5-year-old girl was pushed to the ground and reportedly suffered a bloody nose. The family left before police could take a report.

Two young people were arrested for disorderly conduct.

"Last Thursday" brings artists and and informal street fair to N.E. Alberta Street, between Northeast 15th Avenue and Northeast 30th Avenue.

Police already had increased their presence from 21 officers to 32 officers, along with three sergeants, and one lieutenant. Police say they called in 14 more officers and two sergeants to help with crowd management.

One crowd of began fighting at Northeast 21st Avenue and Alberta Street, when officers were reopening the street to vehicles.

Police say they heard reports of a woman defending herself with pepper spray, but neither the victim or suspects were identified.
