Tracy Martin and his wife were not in the courtroom Saturday night when a six-woman jury acquitted George Zimmerman in the death of their son, Trayvon.

But he took to Twitter afterward for a series of posts.

"God blessed Me & Sybrina with Tray and even in his death I know my baby proud of the FIGHT we along with all of you put up for him GOD BLESS," Tracy Martin wrote in the first of three tweets sent about 30 minutes after the not guilty decision was read in the Sanford, Florida, court room.

Martin thanked all of the family's supporters and the people who will join them to "make sure that this doesn't happen again."

Martin closed by saying: "Even though I am broken hearted my faith is unshattered I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY BABY TRAY."

Later, Trayvon's mother, Sybrina Fulton, sent out a message that offered thanks to God who she said she leans on for support.

"Lord during my darkest hour I lean on you," she said. "You are all that I have. At the end of the day, GOD is still in control. Thank you all for your prayers and support. I will love you forever Trayvon!!! In the name of Jesus!!!"

-- "Thanks to everyone who are with us and who will be with us (so) we together can make sure that this doesn't happen again"

Florida State Attorney Angela Corey: "We believe that we brought out the truth on behalf of Trayvon Martin."

Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda: "(The system is) not perfect, but it's the best of the world," he said of the jury system. "And we respect the jury's verdict.

Defense attorney Don West: "I am gratified by the jury's verdict. As happy as I am for George Zimmerman, I'm thrilled that this jury kept this tragedy from becoming a travesty."

"I know many people are very upset about the verdict, but we must remain peaceful. No matter what, remain peaceful."

-- "My heart hurts"

NAACP Chairman Roslyn M. Brock: "Today, justice failed Trayvon Martin and his family. We call immediately for the Justice Department to conduct an investigation into the civil rights violations committed against Trayvon Martin. This case has re-energized the movement to end racial profiling in the United States."

NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous: "We are outraged and heartbroken over today's verdict. We stand with Trayvon's family and we are called to act. We will pursue civil rights charges with the Department of Justice, we will continue to fight for the removal of Stand Your Ground laws in every state, and we will not rest until racial profiling in all its forms is outlawed."

NAACP Florida State Conference President Adora Obi Nweze: "We lost a young man due to senseless violence, but justice did not prevail. Last year we pushed for the arrest of George Zimmerman and a thorough investigation and trial. Today, we are still called to act. No one should be allowed to use this law to commit a senseless crime again."

Dan Gross, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence: "There is sharp disagreement over the verdict, but there can be no disagreement over the reason why Trayvon Martin is dead. George Zimmerman had a gun that night, and the state of Florida allowed him to carry it virtually anywhere despite a violent history. ... We will work as long, and as hard as it takes to prevent more tragedies like Trayvon Martin's."
