The Bottle Redemption Law may Change due to Concerns over Drugs and Homelessness 

Oregon's trailblazing bottle redemption law may undergo changes because of concerns that redemption centers have become gathering places for drug users and homeless people while having no services to support them. Proposed changes could allow nonprofits to run alternative bottle redemption centers possibly mobile centers such as trucks. Stores could stop accepting bottles after 8pm and convenience stores in some areas after 6pm

President Barack Obama's 49th birthday is Aug. 4. and, while he is heading to Chicago, to attend several Democratic party fundraisers and tour an auto plant, his supporters across the country also will be hosting fundraisers and parties designed to rally votes for the upcoming elections.
As well as wearing Obama t-shirts and hosting birthday parties, Democrats plan to showing their support for the administration by calling voters and asking them to support the president's party in the upcoming elections.
The Democrats will face stiff opposition in the Congressional races, from Republicans as well as from some on the left who have been dissatisfied with the continuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Video: Will Spend Birthday Without Family 08-04-10

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that Obama's birthday plans include having dinner with friends in Chicago and spending the night in his own house in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood.
Obama hasn't shied away from talking about his birthday, noting that his hair is getting more gray and his metabolism is slowing down as another year passes. Gibbs says that while there's no doubt that the presidency comes with enormous physical and mental strain, Obama "greatly enjoys" the job.
The president will return to Washington Thursday evening.
First lady Michelle Obama is taking their younger daughter, Sasha, to Spain this week while their other daughter, Malia, is away at camp.
