Oregon Northwest Black Pioneers celebrates Black History Month with their black-tie formal Annual Gala and Awards Night Celebration Dinner at 7 p.m. at the Salem Conference Center, located in downtown Salem, next to the Phoenix Grand Hotel.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Gloria Dean Randle Scott, former President of Bennett College in Raleigh, NC; one of our historical Black Colleges. She is also a former President of the National School Girl Scouts and the first African American female to hold this position.
The celebration highlights are the announcement of award recipients for 2010 in the categories of Pillars of Leadership and Service Award, Trailblazer Award, The First Award and Educational Scholarship Award.
This year two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from the Salem-Keizer School District continuing their education.
