Police have identified the victim in a shooting Thursday evening in the King neighborhood of Portland as 49-year-old Bernard Linton Yarborough. The shooting occurred around 6:45 pm on the 5800 block of Northeast 6th Avenue.
Mr. Yarborough died of a single gunshot wound. Police say he is not a gang member; however, the suspects in this case may be gang members and detectives are exploring that possibility.
Limited suspect information is that there are at least two African American males in their mid-to-late 20s involved in the shooting. Detectives have not been able to verify if they actually left in a vehicle. Initial information suggested they may have left the scene in a black Acura.
Portland Police Homicide detectives would like to hear from anyone with information on this shooting. Detective Jim Lawrence can be reached at (503) 823-0867 or James.Lawrence@PortlandOregon.gov.
