Your local news items are so important! Won't you consider taking a minute and joining The Skanner News Your Beat community? Here's how to do it:
Follow the links to Register. When your registration is approved by our editors, you can Login and post news items - no more than 770 characters. It's easiest to cut and paste them in from a Word document. The body field lets you know whether you're too long. Please allow at least 24 hours for us to process your registration and your postings.
Once your posted item is approved, with the click of the "SHARE" button, any reader can send your news item out over any one of about 200 different social media links there.

Young people at the Rosewood Cafe in East Portland danced their hearts out at a spontaneous party in June. The cafe is a hub for community organizing. Next community event in East Portland is the East Portland Exposition: 11am – 7pm Sat. July 21 at Earl Boyles Park SE 112th Ave., between Holgate & Powell.
Juneteenth Oregon is Going Back Home!!!
Juneteenth Oregon is going back home; to Jefferson High School, 5210 N Kerby. The 2010 Festival was held in the empty lot at Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Alberta. The 2011 event will NOT be at that location. The Juneteenth Oregon Committee, wanted to resume the rich tradition of being on Jefferson’s athletic field. Please come and help us celebrate this very important day in our American History. The parade and festival will be held on June 18, 2011.
