Daniel 5:14 - I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.

Daniel Smith was born April 1989 and passed away July 2022. He was raised in the traditional African American community in northeast Portland. He enjoyed the wisdom and support of grandparents, aunts, uncles, extended family and the community.

He was his father Randy Smith’s best friend and biggest supporter. His father believes that Daniel made him a better man and made everyone around him better people. Daniel’s mother Sandra was happy to have such an outstanding son. She misses his smile and his laugh.

He was a christian man who walked out his faith in his words and his deeds.

Daniel graduated from college with honors in 2021 with a degree in education and achieved his dream career of teaching special needs children in Portland.

He loved to travel abroad. His favorite continent was Africa where he lived in over 10 countries and visited the surviving members of the Black Panther Party. He also lived in Ecuador where he studied the rainforest.

Daniel led a short, but remarkable life. He is greatly missed by his friends and loved ones. Rest in Peace, beautiful soul.
