The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on Nov. 11 at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces. The Skanner News Video

 PORTLAND
In Portland, all Black veterans are invited to join the National Association for Black Veterans (NABVETS) in  participating in both the parade in the Hollywood District and the Vietnam Memorial event later that morning at the Oregon Zoo.
The Hollywood Veteran's Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11 in the QFC parking lot, 1835 NE 33rd Ave. in Portland. Parade participants are encouraged to wear their berets, caps and other pieces of military clothing. Assembly begins at 8: 30 a.m.
At 11 a.m., veterans will be gathering at the Vietnam Memorial starting at 11 a.m. at the Oregon Zoo parking lot.

SEATTLE
Check out the Seattle Veterans Museum, on Second Ave between Union and University St. (west side of Benaroya Hall) in downtown Seattle. Here too you'll find the Remembrance Garden, a beautiful granite wall memorial completed in 1998 which lists all Washington State service members killed during wartime since 1940.
The museum is open every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and also on Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veteran's Day.
