Senate Defeats Bill to Reverse Birth Control Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate on Thursday defeated a GOP effort to roll back President Barack Obama's policy on contraception insurance coverage in the first vote on an issue that raised questions of religious and women's rights and riled Americans in this volatile election year.

After Criticism, Cain Clarifies His Abortion Views

Said he believes life begins at conception but that it's not government's role to make decision

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain clarified his position on abortion Thursday, a day after saying he opposed the procedure but didn't believe the government or other people should have a role in the decision to terminate a pregnancy.
