The Rose Festival Queen will wear this crown of 14-carat gold filigree, a blue zircon, 600 white sapphires and seven pigeon-blood rubies. In 1922 the crown was commissioned by the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Portland for $1,200, which today is about $15,000. They raised the funds by selling paper roses for twenty-five cents each.
