KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) -- King County sheriff's deputies say two people were shot and injured during a home invasion near Kirkland -- and the robber may have been after medical marijuana.
Sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart says the home is known to authorities as a medical marijuana grow site.
The homeowner was armed with a handgun and exchanged fire with a suspect shortly before 5 a.m. Monday. Both were hit. The suspect was at Harborview Medical Center with what were believed to be life-threatening injuries, while the resident was not as seriously injured.
Urquhart says investigators are trying to sort out exactly what happened, including whether there were any other suspects involved.
