SEATTLE - King County prosecutors are charging a Seattle high school teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student during a party at his home when his parents were out of town.
Spokesman Dan Donohoe says 33-year-old Taryn Fairbanks is facing a charge Tuesday of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.
The Seattle Times reports Fairbanks has resigned from her job at Garfield High School and moved to Las Vegas. She was hired in 2006 and taught language arts and advised the school newspaper.
Police detectives investigating school rumors questioned Fairbanks July 6. She said she had an alcohol relapse at the time of June 23 party. She said she had dropped by the party to drop off supplies for a school newspaper retreat.
